About Canandaigua, NY

Canandaigua is a beautiful city neSTLED on the north SHORE of Canandaigua Lake which makes up one of the 5 Finger Lakes. The town was established in 1791 with the city incorporating in 1913. Native America’s translation for Canandaigua is “The Chosen Spot” and it certainly lives up to its name. 

Visitors to Canandaigua have so much to explore and experience. There is something for everyone including boutique shops, award winning restaurants, family entertainment and historical landmarks. Just walk along Main St and you’ll discover jewelry stores, gift and antique stores and even a yarn shop! History Buffs will appreciate the Sonnenburg Garden and Mansion State Historic Park with its perfectly manicure gardens and Victorian Era Mansion. Learn about the life and home of Postmaster General Gideon Grander at the Granger Homestead & Carriage House Museum. Take a day to enjoy the beauty of the lake and expertly crafted wine along the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail. Families will enjoy the attractions at Roseland Water Park or bring a picnic and enjoy the lakefront at Kershaw Park. 

Throughout the year Canandaigua is also host to some exciting festivals including the Canandaigua Art & Music Festival. Live music, art, food line the sidewalks of Main Street in mid-July. During the holiday season, visitors can enjoy the Festival of Trees at the Granger Homestead. Different community groups around Canandaigua gather to decorate trees inside the Granger Home. During November, The Granger Homestead also hosts the annual Christkindl Market. This juried, holiday craft show draws venders and VISTORS from all areas. It is truly a magical event with trolley rides and even Santa himself makes a visit! 

About the Cardinal Inn 

The Cardinal Inn is a cozy historic 1880 Colonial located in the heart of downtown Canandaigua. It is within walking distance to local gift shops, boutiques, coffee shoPs and restaurants, pubs, and micro breweries. It is also a short drive to Roseland Waterpark and CMAC. 

Upon your arrival you will be greeted by your hostess Lisa Frey. You can choose to stay in one of 3 rooms, The Blue Bird, The Golden Finch or The Baltimore Oriole. Each room includes WiFi, cable tv and air conditioning. Guests have access to a mini fridge and  gorgeous vintage clawfoot bathtub and shower with blow dryer, towels and bath essentials. 

In the morning, awaken to the inviting smell of coffee and other breakfast buffet treats such as fresh fruit, yogurt, pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. After a day of exploring, come back and relax in the cozy sunroom. Enjoy a summer evening in the backyard camp, which includes an umbrella table, lounge chairs, fire pit and hammock!
