Biography of the Inn Keeper

The Cardinal Inn is a dream made a reality by Lisa Frey. The name of the Inn was inspired by the antique bird figures and pictures Lisa has collected over the years. She loves the spiritual meaning of what several birds represent. Gold Finches are spirit catchers and Cardinals represent peace and tranquility. “When cardinals appear, angels are near,” a phrase Lisa has enjoyed and believed in FOR AS LONG AS SHE CAN REMEMBER. 

“When my boys were growing up our home and camp were always the gathering place where their friends would hang out all weekend. I loved making breakfast and lunch for them. I guesS it’s the “empty nest” that inspired me to open my home up to visitors to Canandaigua!” says Lisa.

The Inn has a cozy eclectic Adirondack feel. Lisa loves to explore antique and second hand stores. She found most of the decor from these shops. Lisa’s other passion is gardening and you can enjoy her lovely garden in the backyard camp area of the inn. 

Lisa grew up in Western New York and graduated from Byron-Bergen Central School in 1979. She worked as a hair dresser for over 20 years while also raising her two boys, Zachary and Benjamin. Lisa has been a resident of Canandaigua for over 25 years enjoying summers at her camp in vine Valley with her family. In 2015, Lisa purchased 18 Bristol St in Canandaigua and is excitED to make a comfortable and enjoyable stay for her guests.
